Notices are pages with a short announcement inside the app. Notifications are alerts shown on a device. When a user taps/clicks on a notification, it opens the URL included in the notification.
Notice vs Notification
The difference between a notice and notification is important. A notice is a specific type of page in the app. A notification is an alert outside the app that prompts users to visit the app.
We can use notifications to bring the user's attention to an important matter - e.g. a notice.
Notices are children of the Notice Index page.
Go to the Notice Index Page titled "Notices" and click on Add Child Page.
Create your notice with a clear brief title and content. When you are ready, click Publish to make the notice publicly-visible.
You can now see the notice in the app.
Notifications are only delivered to users who have subscribed to in-app notifications.
You can create a notification by opening the PushPad project named "Cape Agulhas App" for normal production use. The other projects are for other environments of the app.
Fill in the notification title, message and URL. The title and body must be kept very brief - most devices only show a few words. The URL will be opened by the app when the user taps on the notification. Double-check the URL before creating the notification.
If you would like to announce a notice using a notification, you can visit the notice in your browser, and copy its URL from the address bar at the top of your browser - use that as the URL in your notification.
